It is not for us to control their lives, and pick up after them for the rest of their lives. The reality is that we will not always be there to do so, that is why it is wise to allow them the room to grow, to make mistakes, to figure out how to make a comeback. We cannot do it for them, because until they learn to do it for themselves, they will always face the same issues over and over again. Let them go---release them so that they can become themselves. Don't hold on to them, don't try to solve their problems for them. Be the shoulder to cry on, but be the parent who allows his/her child to become an adult. Release them from your grip. Live your life so that they can live theirs.
