How easy it is for to focus on what we want instead of what God wants for us. We often become distracted by the vibes we get, the images that plague us in this world, or society's ideas of what we should attain in this world to experience fulfillment or the "dream life". What is not explained to us by society, is the fact that acquiring as much possessions as one can in this world, will not fill the void in our lives and bring us eternal peace. Owning or accumulating possessions only brings us temporary happiness. God's plan for us, is one that will fill us with eternal life and joy. Living our lives based on God's guidance will fill the void in our lives.
In my personal journey, I have had many disappointments and setbacks. Overtime, I have come to the realization that these disappointments and setbacks occurred because of a lack of realization that the dreams I had for myself were out of touch with the plan God had for me, and still has for me. I went to school and accomplished degrees with the hope of landing the "perfect" job, which would afford me financial success. However, when the "perfect" job did not materialized, I was disappointed, crushed, and became confused about my purpose. I had to re-evaluate my goals and purpose. I found myself asking God where He wanted me to go, when the jobs did not happen. He heard my question, and answered. He told me that where I wanted to go, is not where He wants to take me. I decided to venture out again with the intention of landing the "perfect" job again, with the decision to invest some of my financial success towards charity, aimed at helping those in need. The "perfect" job is yet to materialize. Sometimes, we say we are letting go so that God can take over, but we keep holding on and doing our own thing. God cannot work freely on us unless we let go completely. I believe He wants to use me and my challenges to minister to others and provide hope to the hopeless. But the way I want to go about it is not the way God wants to. He wants me to let go so that He can use me accordingly. Today, if you find yourself in a similar position, it's time to let go and let God. God does not need any promptings or help. We need the help, but He can only help us when we are ready to be helped. Today is the day to let go and let God. He is perfect at leading us in the right direction. I choose to let go today, and let God lead. Will you do the same? Will you let go? |
